When
I wake up...
Get
your day off to the best start by doing some form of
exercise right after you have your glass of water in
the morning. Whether it is taking a walk, doing
some wall push-ups, following a fitness tape or some
other form of movement, get yourself into HIGH
FITNESS gear by moving in the morning!
If
you say you don't have TIME in the morning, set your
alarm clock for one hour earlier! You will be
amazed at the extra energy you will have just after
one week of this new healthy habit!
During
the day...
We
all have those moments when we are trapped at the computer,
sitting at a desk or just stuck on the sofa. This
is your CURE for that! If you are listening
to music, pick a song and get up and play the AIR DRUMS
to it. Hit the drums high and low and move. The
object is to work a sweat up! The bad side to
this is if you are in an office. It will draw a few
odd stares if your co-workers don't know what you are
doing. The good side is that you just might start
a trend and the entire office could have fun & get
fit at exercise breaks during the day! Suggest
this to your boss, who knows, you might even get a pat
on the back for it!
My
favorite thing to do on the days I'm sitting a lot
is to have a set of five pound weights beside my desk.
I do things with my arms and even carry them to
the bathroom with me where I have the advantage of watching
in the mirror. It is motivating to see my arms
toning more and wobbling less.
Exercise
Ideas From Priscilla
Walk
for water! Make sure you are getting up and
down a lot to get your water. Use a smaller
glass if needed, stretch as you are getting up and down
and stand if you are able to for working. I'm
at a counter as I write this, flexing up and down
on my toes. It also saves my backside and back
from getting sore after a long day.
Stretch
it out! Make sure that all during the day
you take five minutes here and there to do a stretch
routine. It will keep you from getting stiff and
make your muscles hungry for more!
Set
up straight! Think posture when you are sitting,
standing or even walking. Think about what your
body is doing and make the adjustments to get it right.
Suck
it in! Did you know that by trying to have
your belly button reach your spine you are using muscles,
toning and improving your posture? All good reasons
to tuck that tummy in.
Flex
and unflex! Clenching various muscles in our
body and holding them for a few seconds or even a minute
or two, then releasing is a very stealth way to get
to fitness. After all, if we are clenching our buttocks
while sitting, we are actually lifting the weight
of our body.
Hit
the gym! After decades of feeling I was too
fat to ever get fit, things changed! I decided
that I didn't have to get in shape BEFORE I went
to a gym. Choose one that is close enough to walk
to or bicycle to if possible. Go for a visit and
see what you think. Trust me, if I can walk into
a gym, YOU can too!
Write
it down! Keep a fitness journal of what you
are doing, how many, how long and read back over it
every few weeks. You will see that your level
of strength is increasing, as does your energy.
Take
the NEXT
step. Watch below and visit often for lots of
exercise variety.
